3 Reasons Why Reflexology is Great for Adults With ADHD and Autism

Having a spectacular brain with an Interest-based nervous system it can be really hard to engage fully in the multitude of daily tasks and responsibilities that doesn’t feed your passions and can often be very time sensitive leading to anxiety overload depleting you of your much desired energy and enthusiasm.

Executive function can be boggled by the ever growing responsibilities that you were unaware would become so much more complicated , anxiety provoking and exhausting because you once were able to mask and you just can’t anymore.

The emotional outbursts of overwhelm with the juggling act of life leaves you feeling riddled with guilt and heightens the fear of rejection even further.

And this is just to name a few

So how can Reflexology help? Well there are lots of ways but I’m just gonna focus on 3 to keep this simple and easy (hopefully) to follow:-

1: The calming space is perfect to flourish and nurture your senses (sight, sound, smell, taste , touch, feelings, thoughts) and will turn on your dopamine receptors, helping you to feel rewarded and fulfilled , therefore will regulate the prefrontal cortex to make rational , aligned decisions to manage daily living.

2: Whilst you are in the chair being treated there is activity for your mind to engage with so you don’t have to focus on keeping your mind quiet. The awareness and feelings of the Reflexology happening takes care of this, which then creates relaxation and slows the mind down to rest.

3. Your body gets a chance to be heard through the reflex points within the feet, creating a wonderful, connective and understanding relationship with yourself , it gives you a chance to listen to your needs instead of your criticisms and begins a nurturing pathway to self care , accepting and recognising your bad ass strengths!

I could go on forever because there is so many amazing ways it can help, but I will keep it in bite size chunks.
